Inkjet Printer Technology
Inkjet printers were indeed an advancement of dot-matrix printers. Inkjet printers use hundreds of tiny guns or nozzles to fire dots of ink onto the paper. The result is still made up of dots, but those are so tiny that one can’t see them, its typically around 50 microns in diameter smaller than a human hair. Spraying thousands of dots a minute with pin-point accuracy enables these incredible printers to turn ink dots on a page into text and photos.
Inkjet Photo Paper
Definitely every inkjet paper types are different and designed for specific purpose typically classified by its weight, thickness, and smoothness brightness. There are a number of papers that fall under this type, as they are all compatible with Inkjet printer technology where jet stream comes in a form of droplets , smaller the droplet is, the more accurate the print will be.
Quality inkjet paper requires good dimensional strength, no bending or cockling, and good surface power. For most purposes like for photo prints, surface smoothness is required. Papers are differentiated in several categories like Ream Paper, Glossy, Matte, Satin/Luster, Photo Metallic etc let’s see explore of few papers.
Ream Paper
It is a bright white paper with standard paper in varying weights of 70gsm up to 100gsm (20 pounds to 32 pounds) that is commonly used to print text documents. It's just a regular copy paper but a little bit heavier than other brands, which makes it ideal for inkjet printers. Most will use sizes A4 and A3 and most common uses include document printing, simple charts and on occasion, images that have no real preserve requirements. On this paper both side printing is not suggested. Resulting output is excellent color contrast, brighter and sharper prints. Also, it's an absolute cheap; it is available as a ream or several reams bundled together. It is good for inkjet and LaserJet printers, ink dries instantly, best for HP printers, but heavier than copy paper.
Glossy Photo Paper
Glossy Photo Paper is popular among many due to its fast-drying capacity maintaining the smoothness and ideal framing of the overall photo. Its smooth surface also helps print look slightly sharper. However, reflections from a polished surface can be distracting and actually reduce the viewer's ability to see all of the details in an image. Industries where images plays vital role like fashion, vehicale, food photography, high res images, high contrast images goes well on glossy photo paper.
Matte Photo Paper
Matte photo paper is less shiny & doesn’t create the distracting reflections. It feels different in touch and possesses greater ink absorption/spread quality. It makes matte paper the first choice for images rich in detail and texture. Papers with an imitation canvas texture emulate the look of oil paintings. Photo papers are usually high-brightness, fairly neutral white papers, but quite a few off-white papers are available. Matte is non-reflective surface Matte papers are go-to media graphic design, art reproduction, architecture, landscapes, black and white, and lower contrast images. No reflection or gloss means that details are the primary focus of the print. This type of paper is available in many weights and double-sided versions.
Satin/Luster Photo Paper
Luster or Satin Paper or Pearl Or Semi- Gloss Paper is in rather popular among the users that’s may because of its light texture , resisting fingerprints & dirt, great viewing , vibrant image than matte etc. Photo labs use this surface for most prints.
